EAST LANSING, Mich. - Mikey Ketteman scored his first goal of the season while
Dylan Borczak recorded his second assist as Oakland got off to a quick start but was unable to hold on as the Golden Grizzlies fell 3-1 at Michigan State on Friday night.
Oakland took an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute as Borczak sent a long ball into the box connecting with Ketteman who had a step on the last Spartan defender. Ketteman was able to control the ball and flip it past a charging Hunter Morse into the back of the net.
Unfortunately, Oakland's lead didn't last long as MSU got the equalizer in the 18th minute and followed with the go-ahead goal ahead just three minutes later to take a 2-1 lead.
Oakland couldn't break through with the equalizer for most of the second half while the Spartans added an insurance goal in the 85th minute to secure the win.
The Golden Grizzlies open Horizon League play at home against Purdue Fort Wayne on Sat., Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
