OAKLAND BASEBALL FINALIZES 2021-22 ROSTER WITH 14 NEWCOMERS

ROCHESTER, Mich.
– Oakland baseball Head Coach Jordon Banfield has finalized the 2021-22 roster with the addition of 14 newcomers in Brandon Decker, Caleb Fuller, Aleksei Goldhill, Brad Goulet, Thomas Green, Brett Hagen, Chase Keeney, Josh Korson, Quinton Kujawa, John Lauinger, Peyton McGregor, Hunter Pidek, Chas Sagedahl and Christian Stelling.
 
"I couldn't be more excited about the group of newcomers we've added to the roster for the 21/22 season. I'm confident that this group, in addition to our earlier signees, address the main areas in terms of pitching and infield defense we need to improve in order to make a move towards the top of the Horizon League," said Banfield. "I want to thank Assistant Coach Brian Nelson for his work in getting all of these guys to campus and handling all of the back-end logistics of their recruiting process. His commitment and loyalty to our program has been and will continue to be vital to our success and continued improvement. I also must thank Dan Rutan who has stepped in and played an important role getting everyone settled in as we get started this week."
 
Brandon Decker – RHP
Hometown: Farmington Hill, Mich.

High School: North Farmington
 
Highlights:
• Appeared in 18 games (9th in school history) with two starts at Concordia
• Posted 3-2 record with 38 strikeouts in 31.2 innings of work with a 5.12 ERA
• 2019 All-District selection in high school
 
Caleb Fuller – RHP
Hometown: Fairfax, Iowa
Previous School: Kirkwood Community College
High School: Cedar Prairie
 
Highlights:
• 2020-21: Made 11 appearances recording a 2-0 record with a save posting 44 strikeouts in 32.0 innings of work at Kirkwood
• 2019-20: Made three appearances with 1-1 record. Posted eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched
• 2018-19: Made 11 appearances recording 3-0 record with two saves posting 29 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work
• Helped lead Red Top Baseball team to 11-1 record
 
Aleksei Goldhill – RHP
Hometown: New York City, NY
High School: IMG Academy
 
Highlights:
• Played two seasons at IMG and two at The Master's School (Dobbs Ferry)
• Named team MVP at IMG during first season recording a 7-0 record with a 2.2 ERA. Also hit .330.
• Tossed perfect game at The Master's School
 
Brad Goulet – INF
Hometown: Cottage Grove, Minn.
Previous School: Akron
High School: New Life Academy
 
Highlights:
• Started in all 44 games played at Akron
• Third on the team in batting (.268), recorded 37 hits, three home runs, six doubles, a triple, 14 RBI and 21 runs scored
• 2020-21 Team Defensive Player of the Year
• Named MAC Player of the Week (6/1). Hit .750 with three home runs (two solo, one grand slam) and six RBI with four runs scored to lead Akron to a 9-6 win over rival Kent State
• Started all 13 games at second base In 2020
• Hit .200 with nine hits, five runs, two doubles, a triple, and an RBI with two stolen bases
• Totaled 19 putouts and 34 assists defensively
 
Thomas Green – INF

Brett Hagen – RHP

Chase Keeney – LHP

Quinton Kujawa – RHP
Hometown: Mt. Vernon, Ill. 
Previous School: Murray State
High School: Mt. Vernon Township
 
Highlights:
• Saw action in 14 games with seven starts at Murray State
• Recorded 30 strikeouts in 36 innings of work with a 3.75 ERA
• Had a season-high six strikeouts in 3.2 innings at SIUE (May 15).
• Had a season-long out of six innings vs Southern Illinois (April 27) giving two runs on four hits.
• 2017 IBCA All-State and 2018 Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) second team All-Conference selection Lewis and Clark CC:
