ROCHESTER, Mich. -Â
Dylan Borczak recorded four of Oakland's six shots on goal but none found the back of the net as the Golden Grizzlies fell 2-0 to visiting UIC in Horizon League action on Saturday at the OU Soccer Field.
Alessio Carbone made a season and career-best six saves in goal.
UIC (4-2-2, 2-1 HL) got on the board in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead and then scored again hitting on a counter-attack off an Oakland (2-4-1, 1-1 HL) corner kick in the 29th minute for a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.Â
Both of Oakland's best chances to get on the board in the second half came off shots from Borczak. On the first attempt, he ripped a shot from about 20 yards out towards the upper right corner of the goal but UIC goalkeeper Andres Vasquez made a diving save pushing the ball away.
Borczak then broke free into the box and connected on a volley off a feed but once against Vasquez closed in to cut off the angle extending his right leg to make the save to preserve his clean sheet.
Oakland continues league play at Robert Morris on Wed., Sept. 29 at 2 p.m.
