ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's soccer team netted three first half goals to guide the Golden Grizzlies to two-straight wins and a 3-0 win over UIC Thursday night.
Despite the rainy, cold conditions,
Alexa Sabbagh scored the first goal of the game during the 5' minute of the first half to mark her third-straight game with at least one goal.
Sydney Grodsinsky added the assist on the play to give Oakland an early 1-0 lead.
Just two minutes later
Sami Lopez was fouled in the box resulting in a penalty kick. The senior converted to score her fourth goal of the season.
Karabo Dhlamini netted her first career goal for the Golden Grizzlies at the 24:56 mark to give Oakland a 3-0 lead.
Oakland (3-7-1, 2-0-1 HL) entered halftime with the 3-0 lead over the Flames (0-8-1, 0-3-0 HL).
All the goal scoring would take place in the first half, despite some great opportunities in the second half.
Oakland's win on Thursday marks the second-straight shutout for the Golden Grizzlies. In the past 268 minutes of play, Oakland has outscored its opponents 10-0.
Noëmi Stadelmann had another solid game between the posts for the Golden Grizzlies, making three saves on the night.
The Golden Grizzlies will travel to Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday, Sept. 26 for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
