Nunn appeared in 56 games (44 starts) last season, averaging 14.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 29.5 minutes per game. He shot 48.5 percent from the field, which included a 38.1% clip from beyond the arc. In four playoff games, he averaged 10.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 23.3 minutes per game.

As a rookie with the Heat, Nunn averaged 15.3 points, 3.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and .8 steals in 67 games, all starts. He played a significant factor in Miami's postseason run to the NBA Finals, as he appeared in 15 playoff games, averaging 6.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 15.9 minutes per game. At the 2019-20 season conclusion, Nunn tabbed runner-up for NBA Rookie of the Year, ahead of New Orleans Pelican star Zion Williamson, and only trailing Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant.

In his lone season of play with the Golden Grizzlies, Nunn averaged 25.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 37.9 minutes per game. His impressive play led to earning Horizon League Player of the Year and Lou Henson All-American honors. He led the nation in three-point field goals per game at 4.47, an Oakland single-season record. Additionally, Nunn ranked top-10 nationally in points per game (2nd), total points (7th / 777), minutes per game (8th), and total field goals made (11th / 262). The Chicago product poured in 30-plus points in an NCAA-leading 11 games, highlighted by a career-best 39 points versus Green Bay (2/22/18).
