ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's soccer team will open its 2021 campaign Sunday in an exhibition match against Western Michigan beginning at 2 p.m. at the Oakland Soccer Field. Admission is $5 for all spectators.

Juan Pablo Favero's roster is highlighted by 10 seniors, including returning graduate student,
Ashley Postma, who will play another year after a shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19.
After a canceled 2020 fall season, Oakland competed in a 10-game, conference-only schedule beginning in February. The Golden Grizzlies posted a 5-3-2 record, which included a four-game winning streak in the month of March. Oakland was just two of 12 Horizon League teams to play in all 10 games.
Western Michigan finished last season 6-2-2, ending the spring 2021 campaign on a four-game winning streak.
The Golden Grizzlies open the regular season on the road in Florida as the Black and Gold take on Florida Atlantic University Thursday, Aug. 19 followed by Stetson on August 22. Oakland will host its home opener against DePaul Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m.
