3-6-21 at WSU Final Graphic

DAYTON, Ohio -
Defenseman Reid Sproat recorded his first career goal, Charlie Braithwaite posted this third of the season while Dawsun Schrum, Kieran Hayes and Noah Jensen and each added an assist as Oakland played the 2019 defending Horizon League champion Wright State to a 2-2 double-overtime tie on Saturday afternoon. Nour Moaoui made six saves while facing 20 shots.

After a scoreless first half, Wright State (2-2-1 HL) got on the board first in the 60th minute. However, Sproat delivered the equalizer off a feed from Schrum just 10 minutes later in the 70th minute.

In the 75th minute, Braithwaite's goal gave Oakland (3-1-2 HL) a 2-1 advantage off Hayes' assist along with Jensen's league-leading seventh assist of the season.

Just two minutes later, WSU's Alex Hummel tied the game at 2-2.

In the 99th minute of the first overtime period, Oakland had its best chance for the Golden Goal as Charlie Braithwaite beat the last defender to create a one-on-one situation with WSU goalie Sebastian Jimenez. Braithwaite made a move and appeared to have Jimenez beat, but just missed wide with a low shot to the right post.

Oakland returns to the Girzz Dome with a match against Milwaukee on Friday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m.
