
DAYTON, Ohio – A game-winning goal by
Macey Wierenga with just over 10 minutes to play led the Oakland women's soccer team to its fourth-straight win, defeating Wright State, 1-0.
Wierenga netted her second goal of the season, finding the back of the net at 79:31, to give the Golden Grizzlies (5-2-1) the lead late in the game.
The Golden Grizzlies record their third shutout in four games, holding Wright State to just two shots on goal after a strong defensive presence from
Kendra Zak.
Noemi Stadelmann recorded two saves on the night.
Alexa Sabbagh tallied a game-high two shots on goal while
Hollie Clement,
Jackie Reilly, and Wierenga all recorded two shots in the game.
Oakland's win over the Raiders (3-4) marks the first win for the Black and Gold in three meetings.
Oakland will host Purdue Fort Wayne in its home finale Tuesday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grizz Dome. The Golden Grizzlies will celebrate senior day, honoring Clement,
Jaimie Leas and
Ashley Postma. Tuesday game will be broadcast on ESPN+/3.
