INDIANAPOLIS –Susan LaGrand competed in three events at the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships to earn Honorable Mention All-American and Nike #HLSD Women's Swimmer of the Week honors the league office announced Wednesday.
 
 LaGrand represented the Golden Grizzlies on the national stage at the NCCA Women's Swimming Championships, competing in three events March 17-20, en route to earning Honorable Mention All-American honors. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native swam in the 200 IM, 100 back and 200 back. On Thursday, LaGrand made her NCAA Championships debut in the 200 IM, finishing first in her heat with a time of 1:58.63. During Friday's 100 back competition, LaGrand again raced to a first place finish in her heat, touching the wall in a personal best time of 53.65. The junior saved her best for last, swimming to a school record in the 200 back in 1:53.48, second-best time in her heat. LaGrand's time was good for 15th overall in the preliminary rounds moving her to the consolation finals Saturday evening. LaGrand finished 16th overall in the finals round with a time of 1:54.13.

The Golden Grizzlies will compete at the Horizon League Championships April 5-6 (diving) and April 8-10 (swimming) in Indianapolis hosted by IUPUI. Oakland will look to claim its 42nd and 26th consecutive league titles for the men and women respectively.
