ROCHESTER, Mich. – Sami Lopez netted two goals for the Golden Grizzlies as the Oakland women's soccer team defeated Robert Morris in a commanding 5-0 win from the Grizz Dome Wednesday morning.
It was all Golden Grizzlies (3-2-1) from the start as Oakland claimed its second straight win in shutout fashion.
Oakland's five goals marks the first time since the 2017 season the Golden Grizzlies have scored five goals in a game after defeating Chicago State 5-0 on Sept. 4.
Jamie Leas recorded her first shutout of the year, making one save in 73 minutes of action. Freshman
Myia Danek made her collegiate debut in 17 minutes of play, tallying two saves.
Senior
Ashley Postma talllied four assists, good for second in program history. Postma's helpers tie the effort of Cathy Miniuk and Jenny Grimm who tallied both recorded four assists in different games during the 1995 season.
Alexa Sabbagh scored a goal in her second-straight game to give Oakland an early 1-0 lead in the 17th
minute, coming from
Emily Penney and Postma's first assist of the day.
Junior
Sami Lopez put one in the back on the lower left side to give Oakland the 2-0 advantage at the 30:43 mark with Postma adding the solo assist.
The Golden Grizzlies continued the momentum out of halftime as freshman
Jackie Reilly scored just five minutes after the break. Reilly's goal marks the second of the year with assists coming from
Macey Wierenga and Postma.
The Golden Grizzlies fourth goal of the day, and second from Lopez was an unassisted goal coming at 56:24.
Freshman
Izzy Karkaba put the exclamation point on the day with her second scoring effort of the season. Senior
Hollie Clement and Postma added the helpers.
Oakland will welcome Green Bay to the Grizz Dome Wednesday, March 17 for a 10:30 start on ESPN+/3.
