
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Kahlaijah Dean poured in a team-high 25 points going 7-for-14 from the field and 4-for-6 from long range while
Autumn Kissman added 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting for the second time this season helping Oakland snap a two-game skid with an 83-71 win over Robert Morris on Friday. The Golden Grizzlies shot a season-high 12-for-19 (63.2%) from downtown and season second-best 28-for-54 (51.9%) from the field while matching a season-high 23 assists for the third time this season on 28 made field goals.
Dean just missed a double-double with nine rebounds while delivering five assists and four steals.
Brianna Breedy dished out a game-high seven assists just missing her career-high by one while adding four points and two steals.
Teneea Heston also had six points matching a career-best going 2-for-2 from long range.
Kayla Luchenbach added seven points hitting her first 3-pointer of the season while
Alona Blackwell also had seven points.
After falling behind 5-3, Oakland (9-9, 9-6 HL) went on a 5-0 run with 5:17 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Kissman, to take an 8-5 lead. Robert Morris (3-10, 3-10 HL) then responded to tie things up at 16-16 heading into the second quarter. Oakland relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 16 points.
Robert Morris then took a 28-18 lead before Oakland responded with an 11-0 run, highlighted by eight points from Dean, to take a 29-28 lead. The Golden Grizzlies proceeded to tack on three points to that lead and enjoyed a 44-40 advantage heading into halftime. Oakland was strong from deep in the period, knocking down six three-pointers accounting for 18 of its 28 points.
Oakland continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on an 8-0 run to expand its lead further to 63-54 with 46 seconds to go in the third. The run would extend to 11-3 before the Colonials cut into the lead somewhat but still trailed entering the fourth quarter with 63-57. Oakland's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled six of the team's 19 third-quarter points.
In the fourth quarter, Oakland took full advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 20 points in the paint capped off by a late 6-0 run en route to the win.
