ROCHESTER, Mich. – Ashley Postma etched her name into Oakland University history for the most games played by a women's soccer player, setting the new record at 85 games.
In Oakland's 3-1 semifinal victory over NKU, Postma had a cross-like shot from wide outside the 18-yard box, the final goal of the game.
The 5-foot-six defender from Caledonia has appeared in all 20 games this season, starting in 18. She ranks eighth in the team in total minutes played and has made her impact felt in those minutes, ranking third on the team in points (11). Her three goals on the season rank her tied for third for Oakland this year, and she is second on the Golden Grizzlies in assists, with five.
"Ashley has been the epitome of consistency. To play in every single game of her career, with the vast majority of those as a starter, tells the whole story. Her commitment to fitness and mental toughness is both an example for others and her legacy," Head Coach JuanPa Favero said.
Postma has been a staple on the Oakland backline since she started playing for the team in 2017. The graduate student has totaled an impressive seven goals and 12 assists in her career.
