ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Oakland University volleyball program dropped a four-set decision to Wright State (28-26, 15-25, 23-25, 10-25) on Friday night inside the Athletics Center O'rena.
Redshirt freshman
Patti Cesarini led the Golden Grizzlies (15-13, 9-8 HL) with 17 kills, while senior
Jessica Riedl had 13 kills and 12 assists. Redshirt freshman
Kennedy Dolmage tallied her first career double-double with a team-leading 18 assists and 13 digs.
Defensively, fifth-year senior
Lindsay Wightman totaled a team-high 22 digs. Freshman
Emily Wichmann finished with a career-high 15 digs to go along with a team-best three service aces. Graduate senior
Jamie Walling and redshirt freshman
Anna Nie combined for 11 blocks.
Oakland opened the Horizon League contest with a come-from-behind 28-26 set victory. The Golden Grizzlies were down 18-9 in the period following a 4-0 run by the Raiders (21-7, 13-3 HL). However, OU stormed back to even the set at 24-all. WSU got back in front, 26-25, but Oakland earned three-straight points to win, 28-26.
Cesarini caught fire in the set with eight kills on 16 swings. Riedl helped out with four kills and five assists.
Wright State bounced back by winning the following three sets. Two of the three periods were decided by 10 or more points. In the third set, Oakland led 23-22, but WSU closed the period with three consecutive points to win 25-23.
The Golden Grizzlies will conclude their regular season on Saturday, Nov. 13, against Northern Kentucky. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
