OAKLAND CONTINUES UNDEFEATED HORIZON LEAGUE PLAY WITH VICTORY OVER CSU

ROCHESTER, Mich. – After a season-high 27 shots, Oakland women's soccer team netted three second-half goals to guide the Golden Grizzlies to their fifth straight win and a 3-1 win over CSU Thursday night.

CSU struck first, taking a goal in the 51st minute. Oakland retaliated eight minutes later with some tic-tac-toe passing. Sami Lopez took the ball down the left side and passed it over to Alexa Sabbagh, who made a quick touch cross over to Ashley Postma inside the box. Postma then buried the shot for the equalizer.

Lopez then ripped a shot right at CSU goalkeeper Kyla Valaitis, who initially made the save to the near post, but the wet ball slipped through her hands and went into the back of the net for the eventual game-winning tally in the 79th minute giving Oakland a 2-1 lead. This goal marks Lopez's sixth of the season.

The Golden Grizzlies then added an insurance goal in the 86th minute as Postma sent in a feed from the right side over to Lopez, who slipped the ball over to a charging Karabo Dhlamini, who delivered a strike from just outside the box to seal the deal putting Oakland up 3-1.

Oakland remains unbeaten in conference play and is looking to continue this at Robert Morris Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
