ROCHESTER, Mich. – A straight set victory over Robert Morris improved Oakland's record to 13-9 overall, 7-4 in Horizon League play.
Finally back on the blacktop after three games on the road, Oakland defeated Robert Morris 3-0 to snap a two-game losing streak. Jessica Reidl and
Brittany Welch led the way for the Golden Grizzlies, recording 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
Patti Cesarini and
Jamie Walling were not far behind, recording nine and seven kills, respectively.
Oakland held a massive assist advantage, 37-23 over the Colonials.
Madison Ross (18) and
AnnaBelle Tomei (16) led the team in assists, amassing an impressive 92% of the team's assists together.
After a closely-fought first set, ending 25-22 Oakland, the Golden Grizzlies pulled away and took the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-19. The trio of
Haley Brown, Tomei and
Kennedy Dolmage each had two aces, bolstering a balanced offense.
The home stand for Oakland continues against two more Horizon League foes. On Sunday, Oct. 24 they host the Youngstown State University Penguins and Friday, Oct. 29 they host the Cleveland State University Vikings.
