Rashad Williams collected 24 points and
Jalen Moore added 23, but the Oakland men's basketball team fell to Detroit Mercy, 82-72, Saturday evening inside the O'rena. The loss broke Oakland's 10-game winning streak against the Titans (4-8, 3-5 HL) that spanned over four years.
Williams and Moore's stellar scoring performances led the Golden Grizzlies (6-13, 6-6 HL) in the fourth matchup between the two schools this season. Moore added a game-high 11 assists for his fifth-straight double-double.
Micah Parrish helped out with six points, eight rebounds, and a career-best four steals, while
Daniel Oladapo chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, and three assists.
The Oakland offense was productive from 3-point land, knocking down 10 threes on 25 attempts. Williams was the most prolific shooter for the Golden Grizzlies, draining six treys on 13 tries in the contest.
OU forced 14 Detroit Mercy turnovers while committing 12 themselves in Saturday's game. The Golden Grizzlies turned those takeaways into 20 points on the other end of the floor. Parrish's four steals led the way for Oakland. Oladapo also contributed with two steals.
After falling behind 28-20, Oakland went on a 12-0 run sparked by two 3-pointers from Williams with 5:49 left in the first half to take a 32-28 lead. The Titans got back in front with a 9-2 run to close the half, which gave them a 37-34 advantage at the break.
Detroit Mercy kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 72-61 advantage before Oakland went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Moore's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 72-69 with 4:20 to go in the contest. Detroit Mercy responded and outscored the Golden Grizzlies the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 82-72. Oakland shot well from three-point range in the period, hitting six shots from deep to score 18 of its 38 points.

Oakland's 10 free throw attempts tied for its lowest mark of the season... Moore notched his fifth-straight and seventh overall double-double... Moore averaged 20.5 points, 12.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds in the series...
Zion Young collected a season-high eight rebounds... Williams made six-plus 3-pointers for the fourth time this season... Williams' 24 points were his third-highest total of the season... Parrish had two-plus steals for the ninth time this season... Oladapo matched a season-high in assists with three.
