OAKLAND DROPS SERIES FINALE TO GREEN BAY

ROCHESTER, Mich. -
Alona Blackwell poured in a team-high 19 points going 4-of-11 from 3-point range and 5-for-6 from the free throw line while Kayla Luchenbach reached double-figures for the second straight game with 12 points and five rebounds as Oakland dropped the series finale to Green Bay, 92-61, on Saturday afternoon. Jalisha Terry also added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field.

Breanne Beatty, Kahlaijah Dean and Teneea Heston chipped in with five points each. Dean and Brianna Breedy accounted for 10 of Oakland's (3-6, 3-3 HL) 19 assists with six and four respectively.

The first half proved to be the difference as Green Bay (3-4, 2-2 HL) shot a blistering 58.6% (17-for-29) from the field and 44.4% (4-for-9) from behind the arc with 26 points in the paint compared to just 20.7% (6-for-29) from the field and 23.5% (4-for-17) from 3-point range for Oakland. The Phoenix also held the Golden Grizzlies to just nine second quarter points which led to a 48-23 half-time lead.

Oakland's offense started to click in the third quarter shooting 61.5% (8-for-13) and 42.9% (3-for-7) from 3-point range. In the second half, Oakland had 13 assists on 14 made baskets accounting for 38 points on 51.8% (14-for-27) shooting from the field. However, the deficit was too much to overcome as Green Bay continued to use their size advantage down low scoring 44 overall points in the paint to secure their second league win of the season.

Oakland hits the road for a pair of games at Youngstown State beginning on Friday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m.
