GREEN BAY, Wisconsin - Oakland University men's basketball fell to Green Bay in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Championship on Thursday, March 5, 78-63, at the Resch Center.

Sophomore guard Rashad Williams was a board short of his first career double-double, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds. Williams led five Golden Grizzlies in double figures. Senior forward Xavier Hill-Mais scored in double-digits for the 29th-straight game - he finished with 13.

Sophomore forward Daniel Oladapo was a rebound short of his fifth double-double of the season. Oladapo had nine rebounds - four on the offensive end - to go with 10 points.

Junior guard Kevin Kangu chipped in 11 points in his second-straight start. Kangu came into the night with seven points total in the last five outings.

Freshman guard Blake Lampman scored in double figures for the first time since January 25 - he finished with 12 against IUPUI. Lampman tallied 10 points against the Phoenix and matched a career high with five rebounds.

The Horizon League Freshman of the Year, Amari Davis, led Green Bay with 19 points. Manny Patterson had a game-high 10 boards.

Green Bay claimed the game's first double-digit advantage, 52-40, going on a 22-7 run since the Golden Grizzlies took the lead 33-30 early in the second half. The Phoenix earned the bonus with 11:31 to play in the game.

Early on it was Kangu and Williams on the offensive end before Oladapo and Hill-Mais started to make their presence known in the paint. After the Golden Grizzlies took advantage of being in the bonus, Hill-Mais battled through contact to get three the old fashioned way and knot the score at 30 aside heading into the break.

Turnovers were a problem early for Oakland, giving the rock up 11 times to Green Bay's five over the first 20 minutes. The Golden Grizzlies combined for 2-of-14 from range in the first half, but 9-of-13 from inside the arc.

The Phoenix knocked down 5-of-6 heading into the under-four minute media timeout to build a 27-20 advantage. Kangu led the Golden Grizzlies in the first 16 minutes with six points.

Both sides struggled from the floor, going a combined 2-of-20 over a seven minute stretch. With 7:59 to play in the opening frame, the Golden Grizzlies cut the early deficit to two, 16-14, while the Phoenix hit a two-minute-and-change scoring skid.

Oakland opened the game 3-of-11 from the field, going on 3:36 scoring drought heading into the first media timeout down 9-5.
