ROCHESTER, Michigan - Senior forward
Xavier Hill-Mais was named to the Horizon League First Team for the second-straight year, as freshman guard
Blake Lampman earned All-Freshman Team honors, announced the conference office on Monday, March 2.
Hill-Mais claimed back-to-back Player of the Week plaudits - highlighted by four-straight double-doubles. His streak came to a close in the final game of the regular season. Hill-Mais scored in double figures in 30 of 31 games this season and is still riding a 27-game streak in double digits.
Hill-Mais was named to the Dos Equis 3x3U Midseason Watch List as one of the league's top seniors. He ranked inside the top-five in five different statistical categories, including leading the conference in field goal percentage - 51.9 percent. The Greensboro, North Carolina, native is the only player in the league to rank top five in both points and rebounds per game - fifth in scoring at 16.71 ppg, fourth in rebounding at 8.16 rpg.
Lampman has two weekly plaudits to his name this season as Freshman of the week. He led the Golden Grizzlies for much of the season beyond the arc - currently second on the team with 45 made triples. Lampman leads all freshman in the Horizon League in made three-point field goals and ranks seventh all-time in league history for made triples by a freshman. He has knocked down three or more three-pointers in 10 games this season and put together a stretch of eight games with at least one made three.
Lampman led all Oakland freshmen in minutes, playing 751 - 24.2 per game - and was tied with senior center Brad Brechting for fifth-most on the team. He appeared in all 31 games this season, starting four.
The first round of the Horizon League Championship tips off on Tuesday, March 3. Oakland hosts Cleveland State at the O'Rena at 7 pm to begin play.
