
ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Oakland men's and women's track and field team wrapped up a strong showing at the GVSU Big Meet Saturday tallying 12 top-10 finishes between the two squads.
Justin Kudera led the way for the Golden Grizzlies in the 400m dash, as the freshman ended the day in seventh place.
Junior
Alana Morrow raced to an eighth place finish in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 9.05.
In distance competition, Shawn Slater ran to a second place finish in the one mile run in a time of 4:19.32.
Chase Novak placed second in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.88m. The sophomore also recorded a third place finish on the day in the triple jump (13.52m).
Senior
Zach Stadnika continued to dominate in the pole vault, finishing in sixth place with a mark of 4.52m.
On the women's side,
Paige Sanders placed sixth with a season best mark of 5.53m in the long jump. Robin Lefevere recorded a mark of 5.29m, good for 12
th place. Sanders also had a 10
th place finish on the day in the triple jump competition with a jump of 10.78m, a personal best for the sophomore.
In the women's weight throw,
Gabby Cyriax finished in 13
th place with a toss of 15.49m while Jamia Elam finished 24
th(14.76m).
Three Golden Grizzlies placed within the top 15 in high jump, including
Hannah Hall (5
th, 1.59m), Savannah McLauchlan (9
th) and
Emily Schaub (13
th).
Chase VanSickle (8
th, 1.91m) and
Sam Narusch (15
th, 1.86m) placed within the top 15 on the men's side.
Continuing a stellar performance in field events, Lauren Christian had a toss of 12.60 in the shot place, finishing ninth.
The Golden Grizzlies have two regular season meets remaining as the squad will split next weekend with some competitors heading to the University of Michigan, while the remaining team heads to Saginaw State University. Both meets will take place Friday. Feb. 21.
