ROCHESTER, Michigan - Oakland University men's basketball hosts Youngstown State on Saturday, February 15, for Throwback/Alumni night. The Golden Grizzlies will be honoring members from the 2005 and 2010 NCAA Tournament teams.

Last time out, Oakland completed the season sweep of Cleveland State, 79-74. Sophomore guard Rashad Williams led all scorers with 28 points - highlighted by a step-back crossover triple that was No. 2 on Sportscenter's Top 10 for February 13.

Oakland hit 70 or more points for the fifth-straight game. The Golden Grizzlies hadn't scored at least 70 in consecutive efforts since the streak began on Jan. 25 against IUPUI.

Williams has knocked down multiple three-pointers in every outing - setting a career high with eight at NKU on Feb. 6. The Detroit native has 35 three-pointers in his eight games this season. Seventy-one percent of his made field goals this season have come from behind the arc.

Oakland jumped out to a double-digit lead at home against CSU - 18-8 with 11:57 to play in the half - for the first time since 78-66 with eight seconds on the clock against Detroit Mercy on Dec. 28.

Youngstown State is riding a three-game win streak into the O'Rena. Against Detroit Mercy on Thursday night, the Penguins edged out the Titans, 76-72. Garrett Covington led YSU with 16 points.

Darius Quisenberry leads Youngstown State with 15.7 points and 4.2 assists per game. Naz Bohannon is averaging 8.5 rebounds per outing.

In the season's first contest between the Golden Grizzlies and Penguins, senior forward Xavier Hill-Mais gave Oakland a 60-59 lead with seven seconds to play. Quisenberry took the inbounds pass from coast-to-coast for the game-winner, 61-60.

Saturday, Oakland University Athletics will be featuring the Sweetheart Deal in celebration of Valentine's Day. Fans can purchase a game ticket and chili dog for $10 - featuring the Sweetheart Dog.

  • Xavier Hill-Mais is one of 10 Horizon League seniors named to the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship Midseason Watch List, announced on Tuesday, February 4. The 2020 event is scheduled for April 3-5 at Atlanta's Atlantic Station. The Greensboro, North Carolina, native has scored in double figures in 23 of 24 games this season - highlighted by six double-doubles - most recently at Northern Kentucky on Feb. 6. Currently, Hill-Mais ranks inside the top eight in the league for points per game, 15.5, and rebounds, 7.7. He is knocking down over 51 percent of his field goal attempts - good for first in the Horizon.
  • Rashad Williams has scored at least 25 points in three of the past four outings. Seventy-one percent of Williams' made field goals have come from range.
  • The three-point streak was extended to 996 by Rashad Williams midway into the first half. The last time Oakland did not convert a shot from behind the arc was on Jan. 30, 1988 vs. Wayne State University. The Golden Grizzlies have hit a three-ball in 996-consecutive games, which is the fifth-longest streak in the NCAA.
  • The 2005 Golden Grizzlies were tabbed a Cinderella story. Oakland's run through the league tournament - with a mark of 9-18 at the end of the regular season - earned the Golden Grizzlies their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. Oakland defeated Alabama A&M in the Opening Round before falling to North Carolina.
  • The 2010 Oakland squad won the Summit League regular season and tournament title. The Golden Grizzlies won 26 games - going 17-1 in conference play. Senior point guard Johnathon Jones led all Division I players in assists. Oakland fell in round one of the NCAA Tournament to Pitt.
