EAST LANSING, Mich. - Kahlaijah Dean reached double figures for the sixth time in seven games with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting and 3-for-3 from the free throw line while
Brianna Breedy added seven points as Oakland fell, 94-56, at No. 25 Michigan State on Tuesday afternoon.
Dean also had a team-best four steals defensively and grabbed a team-high five rebounds along with
Kayla Luchenbach.
Breanne Beatty and
Autumn Kissman each chipped in with six points each while
Jalisha Terry added five points with a team-high four assists.
C'Erra Maholmes scored a season-high four points with East Lansing native,
Lamariyee Williams adding two points.
Oakland (3-4) battled in the first quarter, which proved to be a defensive struggle, only trailing by only four points at 16-12. The Golden Grizzlies remained in striking distance scoring 19 points in the second quarter to trail by nine points at the half, 42-31.
The third quarter proved to be the difference as Michigan State (7-0) pulled away outscoring Oakland 31-16 aided by a 13-0 run to take a commanding 73-47 lead at the end of the frame. The Spartans then tacked on another 17-0 during the fourth quarter to remain undefeated on the season.
Oakland resumes conference play to ring in the new year with a home game against Green Bay on Fri., Jan. 1 at 3 p.m.
