ROCHESTER, Mich. – 
The Oakland men's basketball team continues the 2020-21 campaign with a tough road swing, concluding its non-conference schedule with No. 4 Michigan State Sunday, Dec. 13 at noon. Sunday's game at the Breslin Center will air on FS1. 
 
Oakland (0-6) looks to earn its first win against Michigan State (5-0) in the 19th meeting of the series, marking the ninth-straight season the two squads have met on the hardwood. 
 
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a back-and-forth battle with Oklahoma State where Rashad Williams scored a game-high 32 points, recording a career-best 10 triples last Saturday. Williams' performance landed him Nike Horizon League Player of the Week, his first of the season.  
 
Oakland's game against the Spartans will mark the 38th ranked team Oakland has faced in the last 15 seasons, 19th against top-10 opponents.
 
Michigan State is riding a five-game winning streak as Sunday's game will serve as both teams non-conference finales.

> Greg Kampe and Tom Izzo have a combined 63 years experience and 1,265 wins
> Blake Lampman, a Haslett, Mich. native looks to face off against his hometown team, MSU for the second-straight season. Last time out, Lampman drained a game-high three triples against the Spartans, tallying nine points. The sophomore is a Lansing State Journal Division 2 All-Area selection (2019) and a member of a Haslett squad that went 20-6, making it to quarterfinals of the MHSAA Division 2 Boys Basketball State Championship
> MSU's Associate Head Coach, Dwayne Stephens spent the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons as an assistant coach at Oakland University, where the Golden Grizzlies compiled a 27-27 two-year record. The 1998-99 campaign marked Oakland's first season as a Division I member
> Oakland hasn't opened with seven straight road games since the 2013-14 season
> Oakland is averaging 10.0 steals a game, tallying 60 total steals, sixth best in the country
> Oakland's non-conference schedule featured four-straight Power-5 schools in Michigan (11/29), Purdue (12/1), Oklahoma State (12/5) and Michigan State (12/13) to round out non-conference play

 > Williams had 22 field goal attempts at Oklahoma State, with 20 of them coming from behind the arc. Williams' 20 triple attempts is a school record, surpassing Kendrick Nunn's 19 at Green Bay (12/20/17). The Detroit native's 10 3-pointers puts him second in program history
