
HOUSTON, Tx. - Zach Stadnika is off to an impressive start in Houston as he sits in second with 3063 points in the men's heptathlon at the Houston 5G & Super 22 Invitational. He placed first in shot put (42 ft., 2 in.), second in the 60m (7.11), tied for second in high jump (6 ft., 6.25 in.) and placed third in long jump (22 ft., 3.75 in.). The senior will continue competition tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. where he will finish with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and the 1000m run.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - At the annual Jack Skoog Invite, freshman Lauren Christian had herself a day as she set a new Oakland school record in shot put with a heave of 44 ft., 1.5 in. In addition,
Briana Walker recorded first place finishes in both the 200m (26.21) and the 400m (59.14).
Both
Megan Nichols and Shawn Slater won their mile heats as Nichols recorded a time of 5:07.47 and Slater a 4:24.51.
Chase VanSickle was the top jumper in high jump as he placed first locking in a height of 6 ft., 4.75 in.
Emily Schaub placed third (5 ft., 3 in.) and Savannah McLauchlan placed fourth (5 ft., 1 in.) in the women's final.
On the men's side of sprints,
Malcolm McIntyre placed first in the 200m with a time of 21.83 and placed second in the 60m (6.92). Shaneese LaMons placed runner-up in the 60m women's heat by a time of 8.14.
Emily Schaub recorded a first place finish in the 60m hurdles (9.30) while
Hannah Coverdill and
Dasha Ashley took second and third place. The distance crews stayed consistent as
Zach Pettinga (9:06.01) and Nathaniel Langlie (9:15.59) placed second and third respectively in the 3000m while Morgan Markel (10:43.78) and Courtney Jarema (10:57.02) finished in third and fourth respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies team will return to competition Feb. 7-8 at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational.
