CINCINNATI – The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished in the top two spots in a combined 13 races on day two of competition against University of Cincinnati and Kenyon College Saturday from the Keating Aquatic Center.
On the women's side, the Golden Grizzlies tallied six first place finishes.
Katie Colwell was a part of three top finishes including the 50 free (23.94), 200 free relay (1:36.55) with
Karlee Marsh,
Kirstyn Abbasse, and
Grace Shinske, and the 400 medley relay (3:49.11) alongside teammates Shinske,
Taylor Bailey and
Susan LaGrand.
Bailey, LaGrand and
Sohvi Nenonen also recorded individual first place finishes. Bailey finishes first in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.93), LaGrand in the 200 backstroke (2:01.54) and 200 IM (2:04.93), and Nenonen placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:06.40).
The Oakland men were led by
Marko Khotynetskyi who placed second in the 200 backstroke (1:48.29) and the 200 IM (1:53.14).
The relay team of
Christian Bart,
Mack Flowers,
Ryan Geheb, and
Rudy Aguilar swam to a second place finish in the 200 free in a time of 1:23.63.
The Golden Grizzlies travel to East Lansing to take on Michigan State Saturday, Jan. 18 beginning at 2 p.m. at McCaffree Pool.
