
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Kahlaijah Dean,
Jalisha Terry and
Autumn Kissman combined for 71 points to lead Oakland to a thrilling 93-88 win over Green Bay on Thursday Night at the O'rena which snapped a four-game skid against the Phoenix. Dean scored a season and game-high 27 points with six assists followed by a career-high 25 points from Terry and first career double-double by Kissman with a career-best 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Oakland's season second-best 93 points was the most the Golden Grizzlies have scored in 15 overall games against Green Bay. Hot 3-point shooting proved to be the difference as Oakland hit a season-best 9-for-22 (40.9%) while also connecting on a season-best 27-for-67 (40.3%) from the field.
The Golden Grizzlies also hit a blistering season-best 30-for-34 from the from the free throw line as Terry went 12-for-13, Dean shot 9-for-11 and
Breanne Beatty was 5-of-6. Oakland also dissed out 20 assists on 27 made baskets.
After trailing by 24-16 in the first quarter, Oakland flipped the script in the second quarter outscoring the Phoenix 25-16.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Dean and Terry cut the Green Bay lead to three, 30-27. Terry then scored seven of Oakland's next nine points giving the Golden Grizzlies its first lead of the game at 38-36 with 1:45 remaining in the half.
Alona Blackwell then hit another 3-pointer which moved the Golden Grizzlies ahead 41-40 heading into half time.
Oakland continued the momentum opening the second half on a 9-3 run as Terry hit a tough runner in the lane and was fouled in the process. She completed the three-point play giving the Golden Grizzlies their biggest lead of the game at that point, 50-43.
Green Bay battled back down the stretch of the third to pull within one point before
Teneea Heston hit a buzzer beater 3-pointer as time expired to extend the lead back up to four points, 62-58.
Oakland opened the fourth quarter on fire with a quick 5-0 run to move ahead 67-58 forcing a Green Bay timeout just 48 seconds in. The Golden Grizzlies went on the outscore the Phoenix 12-7 over the next six minutes as a pair of free throws by Dean gave Oakland its biggest lead of the game at 14 points, 79-65. GB responded with a 8-1 run to cut the lead down to 80-73 before a pair of free throws by Dean and Terry moved the Golden Grizzlies back up by 11.
Trailing 84-73 with under two minutes to play, Green Bay elected to foul to extend the game and pulled within three points at 89-86 with 28 seconds remaining. However, Terry and Kissman each hit a pair of free throws to seal the win as Oakland's final 13 points came from the charity stripe.
The Golden Grizzlies will host Milwaukee on LGBTQIA+ Pride Day on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3 p.m.
