ROCHESTER, Mich. –The Oakland women's soccer team will open Horizon League play against Youngstown State Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. from the Oakland Soccer Field for LGBTQIA+ Pride Night presented by Oakland University Credit Union.
 
Oakland (2-4-1) finished 3-3-3 a season ago in conference play, and played to a 0-0 double overtime draw in its last meeting against the Penguins (2-5-1).

• Alexa Sabbagh leads the team in points with nine, placing her fifth in the league with 1.3 per game
• Sami Lopez sits ninth in the league in points (1.0) 
• Senior Sierra Grodsinsky leads the team in assists with three
• Ashley Postma and Taylor Thalheimer have also recorded one goal on the year for the Golden Grizzlies
• Goalkeeper Jaimie Leas sits seventh in the league in saves per game (3.83)
• The Golden Grizzlies have scored nine goals this season, after scoring 10 all of last season
• Lopez was named Nike Horizon League Player of the Week (9/2) after scoring two goals against Eastern Kentucky including the overtime game winner
• Oakland University is celebrating 25 years of women's soccer this season
