ROCHESTER, Mich. - Evan Sawula scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute off assists from
Dylan Borczak and
Carson Debison-Larabie to give Oakland a 1-0 home opening Horizon League win over Cleveland State on Saturday night.
Sullivan Lauderdale also recorded his first shutout of the season with two saves.
In the 80th minute,
Charlie Braithwaite took a turnover and led the counter moving the ball past midfield sending it over to Debison-Larabie who in turn passed it to Borczak who was racing down the right side uncontested. Borczak moved the ball just outside the 18-yard box and delivered a pinpoint pass across the box over to a wide open Sawula who blasted a one-time shot to the far post freezing the CSU keeper for his second goal of the season. Borczak now leads the team with four assists.
