KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Alexa Sabbagh scored the lone goal for the Golden Grizzlies as the Oakland women's soccer team fell to Western Michigan, 3-1 from the WMU Soccer Complex Thursday afternoon.

Western Michigan (2-3) struck early just seven minutes into the game to take an early 1-0 lead.

Oakland (2-3-1) responded in the 24th minute as Sabbagh battled the ball away from the defender and put one in the lower right corner off an assist from
Sierra Grodsinsky. Sabbagh's goal is her fourth of the season, a team high.

The Broncos added two more goals in the 31st and 39th minute of the first half to go up 3-1.

Both teams remained scoreless in the second half, tallying a combined six shots.

Jaimie Leas started in net for the Golden Grizzlies recording a career high eight saves.

Oakland is back in action Sunday, Sept. 15 against Michigan State from the Oakland Soccer Field beginning at 4 p.m.

The Golden Grizzlies will celebrate legacy and alumni weekend in conjunction with the 25th year celebration of Oakland women's soccer.
