ROCHESTER, Mich. – Head Coach
Paul Rice announced the addition of 14 newcomers to the 2019 men's and women's cross country team recruiting class.
The women's team will feature eight additions as
Maddie Brown, Taylor Conner,
Hailee Fluent,
Brooke Hinkelman,
Courtney Jarema,
Grace Nolan and
Katie Scoles will come in as freshman along with Macomb Community College transfer
Morgan Markel.
On the men's side,
Yami Albrecht,
Eddie Harrell III,
Colin Kane,
Thomas Polak,
Shawn Slater and Northern Michigan University transfer
Nathaniel Langlie will look to add depth to the squad this upcoming year.
"This fall we welcome a very talented group of six men and eight women to the team that my staff and I are very excited for the opportunity to work with as we feel many of them have the potential to be critical pieces this year as freshman," said Rice. "This year and next year we will be graduating some student-athletes that have had amazing careers as Golden Grizzlies so it is very important that we have some young talent that can develop before those athletes graduate."
"We hope to help these young athletes grow and mature in our program in a very short period of time and we will challenge them in that growth by offering some unique high level opportunities," added Rice. "With these new roster additions, both our men and women become instantly more competitive and all of our athletes are well aware that they have to keep working hard and staying motivated to move up the ranks. It will be an exciting fall as we start to see where the contributions will come from in our efforts to be top contenders for the Horizon League championship.
