
DAYTON, Ohio - Myles Zilinsky hit 3-for-5 recording three RBI with a triple and two runs while
Mike McGee went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run as Oakland's season ended in heartbreaking fashion with Northern Kentucky scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to come from behind with a 9-8 win in the opening round of the 2019 Horizon League Tournament on Wednesday.
Mario Camilletti hit 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI while
Ronnie Krsolovic added a double with
Blake Griffith,
Ryan Fitzgerald and
Cherokee LeBeau each recording a hit.
On the mound,
Nick Parr closed out his career going 5.0 innings with a season-high eight strikeouts.
Cameron Fuller also went 3.1 innings in relief with five strikeouts.
With Oakland (11-37) leading 8-5 in the bottom of the ninth, Northern Kentucky (15-40) cut the lead to 8-6 with a RBI single.
Austin Sherry came into the game and was able to get second out with two runners on. After a bases loaded walk, Griffin Doersching hit a single through the gap scoring two runs to secure the walk-off win.
Camilletti got Oakland on the board in the first inning with a single through the left side scoring Zilinsky.
Krsolovic notched a lead-off double in the top of the third inning and was moved over to third base on a ground out by LeBeau. Camilletti then notched his second RBI of the game scoring Krsolovic off a sacrifice fly to center field to give Oakland a 2-0 lead. However, NKU tied the game in the bottom of the frame scoring two runs with one unearned off a fielder's choice and sacrifice fly.
Oakland got things going in the fifth inning as Zilinsky's RBI triple scored LeBeau which was followed by McGee's two-run blast over the left field wall to move the Golden Grizzlies ahead 5-2.
After NKU added a run in the bottom of the fifth, Zilinsky came through in the clutch again delivering a bases loaded single to score Fitzgerald and Griffith. LeBeau then scored from third off a wild pitch giving Oakland a 8-3 advantage.
