
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies struggled to get runs across home plate as they scored only two runs in both games of their doubleheader against Toledo. The Rockets took game one 10-2 and game two 2-0.
Toledo scored three runs in the first inning of game one off a three run home run as well as a single. The Rockets would add three more runs in the third inning to extend their lead to seven.
Rachel Zerona led off the bottom of the third getting hit by a pitch and taking her free base.
Lauren Pletscher would then double to center, bringing Zerona all the way around to score.
Kelsie Swanson would single to left, pushing Pletscher to third.
Jessie Munson would follow up hitting a ball so sharply to short that Pletscher would get picked off at third.
Shannon Carr singled up the middle, allowing Swanson to score, cutting the deficit to five runs.
Toledo's Maggie McGurk would hold Oakland scoreless throughout the rest of the game as her team added three more runs in the sixth to end the game early.
Game two of the evening displayed even less scoring from both teams. The Golden Grizzlies recorded only two hits from Swanson and
Sidney Rayba, while Toledo put up six.
Chelsea Wiggins pitched 4.0 innings while
Emily Karas went 3.0.
Oakland will continue league play in Indianapolis when they take on IUPUI on Friday at 5 p.m. and again on Saturday at 1 & 3 p.m.
