ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies put up three runs on three home runs in the fourth inning of their 11-3 loss to the Jaguars of IUPUI.
Oakland (10-23, 3-9 HL) almost pulled off the unbelievable with three home runs back-to-back-to-back.
Jamie Squires led off the fourth homering over the left center fence, starting the rally for the Golden Grizzlies. One out later,
Lauren Griffith also hit a shot to left center when
Brittney Miller followed up with a shot down left field line, cutting the Jag's lead to four.
Facing
Lauryn Debono, IUPUI (13-28, 7-4 HL) jumped on the board in the second inning with an RBI single down the right field line from Delainey Turner before Haley Ginger drew a walk, ultimately walking in a run.
Oakland would make a pitching change, replacing Debono with
Chelsea Wiggins who would take over in the second. IUPUI's Delaney Thomas would double off of Wiggins, bringing in two more runs for the Jag's before Oakland could get out of the inning.
Jamie Squires led the offense going 2-for-3 with a single and a home run while Griffith, Miller and Zerona would each add one hit each.
Lauryn Debono (3-3) and
Chelsea Wiggins each hurled 1.2 innings each while
Hayley Bartholomew threw 1.0 innings before IUPUI ended the game in five innings.
Oakland will battle against IUPUI in a series deciding doubleheader tomorrow at 1 & 3 p.m.
