ROCHESTER, Mich. - Blake Griffith hit his fourth home run of the season along with a double and single with two RBI leaving him a triple short from hitting for the cycle while
Drew Demumbrum also hit his fourth homer of the year as Oakland dropped a non-conference game to visiting Central Michigan, 24-10, on Tuesday.
Ronnie Krsolovic recorded an RBI double while
Myles Zilinsky and
Ryan Fitzgerald each added RBI singles.
Matt DiLeo also added an RBI on a sacrifice fly while
Cherokee LeBeau hit 2-for-3 with a run and
Mario Camilletti recorded a double with two runs scored.
Things looked good for Oakland (7-21) early in the game as the Golden Grizzlies took a 7-3 lead with three runs in the first from DiLeo's sacrifice fly followed by
Mike McGee scoring off a wild pitch and Griffith's RBI single. Oakland added two more runs in the second from Krsolovic's RBI double and RBI single from Zilinsky and another pair of runs in the third off back-to-back homers from Demumbrum and Griffith.
However, after CMU (24-8) scored four runs in the fourth inning, the Chippewas hung seven runs in the fifth and seven more in the seventh to take a commanding 22-7 lead and never looked back.
Oakland will host Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Apr. 10 at 3 p.m.
