
EAST LANSING, Mich. –
Jamie Squires and
Mikayela Marciniak hit back to back home runs in the top of the fourth inning to get the Golden Grizzlies on the board in their 11-3, five-inning loss to the Michigan State Spartans.
The fourth inning proved timely for Oakland as they put up all three of their runs and tallied five consecutive hits. After the back to back homers,
Jackie Reitmeyer followed up with a triple of her own, followed by an RBI single from
Lauren Pletscher.
Rachel Zerona would add a hit before the Spartans ended the inning.
Brittney Miller added a double in the fifth inning before the Spartans scored one more in the bottom of the fifth frame to end the game early.
Chelsea Wiggins started the game and went 1.2 innings giving up five hits before being relieved by
Kayla Marburger who threw 1.1 innings.
Emily Karas finished up for Oakland pitching 1.2 innings.
The Golden Grizzlies will play in their home opener this weekend against the UIC Flames as they continue conference play.
