
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies took the series with their 3-2 win over the Green Bay Phoenix in game one of the afternoon.
Jessie Munson went 3-for-4 with one RBI in game one while
Brittney Miller,
Jamie Squires and
Shannon Carr each added one hit each in the contest.
Hayley Bartholomew pitched a solid game in her senior day outing throwing a complete 7.0 game, striking out four and giving up only two earned runs.
Jamie Squires knocked in Oakland's first run in the bottom of the first, singling up the middle and scoring
Mikayela Marciniak.
Green Bay would tie the game in the top of the fifth on a two run home run from Crystal Guzman but Oakland would take back the lead in the bottom of the sixth when
Jessie Munson would knock in
Shannon Carr on a single to left and
Brittney Miller showed her patience as she drew a walk with the bases loaded, scoring
Kelsie Swanson.
Game two proved to be an offensive battle as the Golden Grizzlies and Phoenix combined for 19 hits and 13 runs.
Emily Karas recorded the loss for Oakland as she threw 2.1 innings, giving up four hits and three runs, while
Lauryn Debono pitched 3.0 innings, striking out one and giving up three runs.
Kayla Marburger would enter in relief throwing 0.2 innings while
Hayley Bartholomew wrapped up the game, pitching through the seventh.

Brittney Miller knocked in the first run of the second game with a single to second, scoring
Jessie Munson before
Lauren Griffith would pick up two RBI's herself as she singled to right field.
Green Bay would come alive in the fourth, scoring four runs on a two run home run as well as an RBI double and single taking the lead that they would hold for only a half-inning. Oakland would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning as
Rachel Zerona would lay down a bunt, causing defensive mayhem as the Green Bay pitcher threw to first base but no one was covering the base. Zerona motored to third on the error and
Shannon Carr scored. Zerona would then score on a wild pitch, putting Oakland up 5-4.
Jamie Squires would knock in one more run in the bottom of the sixth, but it wouldn't be enough as Green Bay forced a split, winning game two 7-6.
Oakland will continue competition May 1, traveling to Western Michigan to take on the Broncos in a midweek doubleheader at 1 & 3 pm.
