
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Track and Field squad will send athletes to the Jesse Owens Invite, hosted by Ohio State this weekend as well as send a group of athletes to Hillsdale, Mich. for the annual Hillsdale Gina Relays Apr. 26-27. This will be the last time the Golden Grizzlies athletes will compete before the Horizon League Outdoor Championships May 3-5.
Last season at the Jesse Owens Invite, jumper
Brandon Davis took third in the long jump with a mark of 22 ft., 9 in. In addition,
Jimmie Williams placed fifth in the 400m with a time of 47.83 and ninth in the 200m with a time of 21.74. At the Hillsdale Gina Relays,
Tyler Sirut placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 178 ft., 7 in while
Alana Morrow placed sixth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.54.
Also at the Gina Relays a season ago was
Heather Czarnecki who placed runner-up in the women's 800m with a time of 2:15.69.
Last weekend at the Virginia Challenge
Maggie Schneider broke the school 10000m record by 36 seconds, recording a time of 34:20.08. Schneider was the top collegiate finisher in the heat and she went to earn Horizon League Runner of the Week for her performance. In addition,
Jimmie Williams also claimed the men's Runner of the Week title as he placed first in his fourth 400m race this season at the Indiana State Pacesetter Invite where he recorded a time of 48.16 while also placing runner up in the 200m.
