
DAYTON, Ohio – The Golden Grizzlies forced a split on Easter Sunday dropping game one to Wright State 9-8 and winning game two 10-2.
Jackie Reitmeyer hit .500 over the course of the two games, going 4-for-8 with two home runs and four RBI. In addition,
Mikayela Marciniak and
Brittney Miller hit 3-for-4 with Miller recording five RBI's while Marciniak added two.
In game one of the day,
Kelsie Swanson led off knocking a double to left field before
Jessie Munson would ground out, moving Swanson to third.
Mikayela Marciniak would then put a ball in play that the Wright State shortshtop would pick up an error on, allowing Swanson to score, unearned.
In the second inning,
Shannon Carr led off singling to center before taking second on a passed ball.
Brittney Miller would then sacrifice Carr to third before
Jackie Reitmeyer grounded out to second tallying an RBI, scoring Carr.
Oakland would add one more run in the fourth and three in the fifth but Wright State would have an answer every time Oakland scored.
In the sixth,
Jackie Reitmeyer would laser a homer over the left field fence to cut the Raider's lead to two.
In their last inning to score,
Mikayela Marciniak singled to the shortstop to lead off the inning and
Kayla Marburger came in to pinch run for Marciniak.
Lauren Griffith would crank her second hit of the day, doubling to right center and moving Marburger to third. Carr was then hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Oakland would tack on a run as
Kayla Marburger scored on a wild pitch but Wright State would strike out two in a row to end the Golden Grizzlies threat.
In game two of the evening, the Oakland offense came alive as the team combined for 12 hits, scoring ten runs.
Oakland jumped on the board in the second inning as
Shannon Carr and
Jackie Reitmeyer hit back to back singles before
Brittney Miller blasted a three-run homerun, putting her team up two runs.
The Golden Grizzlies followed up with another strong inning scoring four runs in the third.
Jessie Munson started the inning reaching on an error by the WSU defense before Marciniak walked and
Jamie Squires singled, scoring Munson.
Lauren Griffith would also add an RBI as she reached on a fielder's choice.
Jackie Reitmeyer would add an RBI singling to right field before the inning completed.
Mikayela Marciniak and
Jamie Squires would each pick up an RBI in the sixth, extending their lead to seven runs before
Jackie Reitmeyer hit her second home run of the day.
Lauren Debono would pick up the win going 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and two earned runs as
Kayla Marburger would hurl 1.1 innings only allowing one hit.
The Golden Grizzlies will continue Horizon League play Apr. 23-24 as they take on Cleveland State in a three game series at home on the Oakland Softball Field.
