INDIANAPOLIS --
Chris Handy was named to the All-Horizon League First Team and
Thomas Giroux was selected to the all-league second team announced by the conference on Saturday.
Handy, a junior from Tanfield Lea, England, was the top-ranked player in the Horizon League individual standings after leading the Golden Grizzlies with a 73.43 scoring average in 23 rounds played. He registered a team best four top-10 finishes on the season including a runner-up finish at the Dayton Flyer Invite. Handy also matched a career best by recording seven rounds under par.
Giroux, a sophomore from Georgetown, Ontario, appeared in all 23 rounds for the Golden Grizzlies and owned a 73.91 scoring average. He was sixth in the Horizon League rankings and recorded a pair of top-10 finishes on the season. Giroux was named the Horizon League's Golfer of the Week on Feb. 20, and shot a career low round of 68 while carding seven rounds under par on the year.
The Oakland men's golf team heads to Florida to compete in the 2019 Horizon League Championship at Mission Inn Resort Sunday, April 21 through Tuesday, April 23.
