
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Oakland softball team set a new single game hits record in their 19-10 victory over Georgetown with 18 hits.
Mikayela Marciniak,
Jamie Squires and
Jackie Reitmeyer all recorded three hits each while
Kelsie Swanson,
Jessie Munson and
Rachel Zerona each tallied two.
The Golden Grizzlies scored nine runs in the first inning before adding five runs in the second and fourth inning. Oakland only batted in four innings as they run-ruled the Hoyas in five innings.
In game two of the afternoon,
Jessie Munson hit a single to right field to score
Kelsie Swanson and
Rachel Zerona, tying the game at two. Later in the inning,
Brittney Miller tripled to center field scoring
Jessie Munson putting Oakland up one.
Chelsea Wiggins hurled five innings, giving up eight hits and two runs, keeping the Colonials at bay through the sixth where
Kelsie Swanson singled to center, scoring
Arieanna Grammatico clutching the 4-3 win.
Jackie Reitmeyer was red hot at the plate as she went 5-for-6 on the day.
Oakland will return to action tomorrow at 10 am as the 9 am game against Stony Brook has been pushed back one hour.
