
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Oakland Softball team dropped two games of their doubleheader against the Bowling Green State Falcons. Oakland fell in game one 6-5 and game two 8-4.
Chelsea Wiggins took the mound for the Golden Grizzlies, pitching 6.1 innings, giving up six hits and five runs. Haley Bartholomew came in for relief in the seventh, ultimately giving up a walk off homer to the Falcons in the game one opener.
Oakland struck in the fourth as
Jessie Munson and
Mikayela Marciniak reached on error allowing
Brittney Millers double to center push Munson across home plate. In the same inning,
Jamie Squires hit a sacrifice fly out to right to allow Marciniak to tag up and score.
Squires hit a double to right in the sixth, scoring
Shannon Carr and putting Oakland up 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth. The Falcons were able to capitalize on errors committed by Oakland, tying the game at 4. Oakland answered as
Jackie Reitmeyer hit her first home run of the season putting her team up one.
Bowling Green had the final say as they hit a two run-walk off homer to seal the victory in game one.

In game two of the doubleheader,
Jessie Munson doubled to left in the top of the second to put the Golden Grizzlies up one, but the Falcons would hold Oakland scoreless until the fifth where
Mikayela Marciniak drilled a home run out to right center.
Lauren Griffith would also pick up two RBI's in the game as she sent a single out to center, scoring Squries and Carr. Oakland and Bowling Green each recorded nine hits each, but the Falcons came out on top 8-4.
The Golden Grizzlies will compete in the Buff & Blue Challenge March 15-17 in Washington D.C. game one (3/15) against Georgetown set to begin at 11 am.
