
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Oakland Softball team picked up a much needed 7-6 win over Fairfield after dropping five games in a row. Their victory led the Golden Grizzlies to a 1-2 finish at the Campbell Invitational.
Lauryn DeBono picked up the win, hurling 5.1 innings, striking out five and giving up no walks before
Chelsea Wiggins came in the save, pitching 1.2 innings, striking out three. DeBono now holds a 2-0 record in the circle.
Oakland jumped on the Stags early, as
Kelsie Swanson led off with a single up the middle before coming around the bases thanks to an RBI double from
Shannon Carr.
Mikayela Marciniak helped add to the lead in the third inning as she hit a sacrifice fly out to left field to score Swanson again. Later in the inning
Brittney Miller doubled to left center scoring
Jessie Munson.
Heading into the fifth with a tie score,
Shannon Carr hit a bases clearing triple to left center to put the Golden Grizzlies up 6-3. Carr finished the day 2-for-3 with four RBI's.
Brittney Miller added three hits going a perfect 3-for-3 while
Kelsie Swanson added two hits and
Jessie Munson added one.
