

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Oakland softball team split in their first day of competition at the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs tournament. After dropping the first game to Loyola 10-0, the Golden Grizzlies came back to rally against Hartford, picking up the win 7-4.
Lauryn Debono picked up her first win of the season in the circle as she gave up six hits and struck out five.
Shannon Carr went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI's. In addition,
Brittney Miller also hit 3-for-4 with one double, one RBI as well as one run scored.
Kelsie Swanson and
Mikayela Marciniak each recorded two hits as the team had only one strikeout the entire game.
In the first game of the day,
Brittney Miller went 2-for-2 while
Shannon Carr and
Lauren Pletscher each recorded hits of their own.
Oakland will continue competition tomorrow as they take on Sacred Heart at 10 am and host Gardner Webb at 12 pm.
