GAME 8: OAKLAND HEADS TO NO. 24 MICHIGAN

ROCHESTER, Mich. -
The Oakland women's basketball team continues its seven-game road swing at No. 24 Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 pm.  The game will be broadcast live from the Crisler Center on BTN+ for paid subscribers only and can also be heard on WLBY (1290-AM).
 
Notes:
Series History: Michigan has won the last three consecutive games and leads the overall series 9-4.
 
A look at the Wolverines: U-M checks in at No. 24 in the latest Associated Press Top-25 poll and is led by sophomore Naz Hillmon who leads the team in scoring (15.5 ppg) and rebounds (8.9) along with senior Kayla Robbins (11.9 ppg). The Wolverines are the second ranked team Oakland will face after playing at No. 15 Michigan State (11/19).
 
Last Time Out, Terry on a Tear: Jalisha Terry averaged 14.3 points, 4.0 assists, 2.7 rebounds and steals per game while going 16-for-18 (88.9%) from the free throw line helping Oakland go 2-1 for the week including an undefeated 2-0 mark at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic with wins over host FIU and Jacksonville State. Terry scored a team-high 13 points going 8-for-10 from the free throw while dishing a team-high six assists with four steals helping Oakland snap a two-game skid with a 58-49 win over FIU. Against Jacksonville State, she reached double figures for the fifth consecutive game scoring a season second-best 19 points going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line with four assists and three steals leading Oakland to a 61-55 win. For the tournament, Terry averaged 16.0 points per game with 10 total assists and seven steals while going 15-for-17 (88.2%) from the charity stripe to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
 
Tungate Sidelined: Head Coach Jeff Tungate will take a medical leave of absence to care for a recurring back issue. "Ten years ago, I had a botched spinal fusion. Issues from that surgery continue to flare up to the point where I need to go on medical leave once again," said Tungate. Associate Head Coach Ke'Sha Blanton will serve as acting head coach until he returns. Last season, Tungate missed seven games due to the same condition. In his absence, the team went 2-5 with wins over arch-rival Detroit Mercy to complete the series sweep over the Titans and UIC.

Magic number 800: Oakland currently sits at 799 overall program wins needing just one more to reach 800.
 
Guard the Arc: Oakland leads the Horizon League in 3-point field goal percentage defense (21.1) which ranks eighth nationally.
 
Charity Stripe Production: Oakland also leads the league in free throw percentage (78.6) while also ranks 16th nationally.  Terry ranks second in the league (90.3) and 35th nationally. Kayla Luchenbach also ranks seventh (90.3).
 
Lockdown D: Defensively, the Golden Grizzlies rank second in field goal percent defense (35.8), rank third in points-per-game defense (63.3) and steals (8.14).
 
Droppin' Dimes: Oakland ranks third in assists per game (14.43) while Terry (3.7) and Brianna Breedy (2.7) rank sixth and eighth respectively.
 
Crash the Boards: The Golden Grizzlies are second in the league in total rebounds per game (41.3) and defensive rebounds (29.3) and third in offensive rebounds while Luchenbach (6.3) ranks eighth individually.
 
Pass/Protect the Rock: The team ranks third in assist/turnover ratio (0.87) and fourth in turnover margin (1.57) while Terry also ranks third (1.9) in assist/turnover ratio.
