BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Xavier Hill-Mais scored a team best 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and pulled down 12 rebounds as the Oakland men's basketball team fell to Bowling Green on the road, 68-65 from the Stroh Center.
Tray Maddox Jr. scored a season high 19 points going 6-for-12 from the floor, making three triples and going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
The Golden Grizzlies (5-5) committed 15 turnovers compared to the Falcons (7-2) five. BGSU capitalized off Oakland's miscues scoring 25 points off turnovers.
The Falcons led by as much as 13 in the first half and entered halftime with a nine-point lead, 39-30.
Oakland used a 16-2 run to turn a 49-38 deficit beginning at 13:49 of the second half, into a 54-51 lead with seven minutes left to play. The back and forth battle continued for the remainder of the game, with Oakland leading by as much as four with 1:41 remaining. The Falcons went on a 9-2 run within that time to take the lead and seal the win.
The Golden Grizzlies will take on no. 11 Michigan State at Little Caesar's Arena Saturday, Dec. 14 at noon. Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
