ROCHESTER, Michigan - Oakland University Men's Basketball freshman guard
Blake Lampman was named the Freshman of the Week by the Horizon League, announced the league office on Tuesday, December 31. In the Golden Grizzlies' lone outing this week, Lampman finished with 12 points and a career-high five assists.
Heading into the matchup with #MetroSeries rival Detroit Mercy, the Haslett, Michigan, native had been struggling from beyond the arc, going 1-of-15 over the previous two outings. Against the Titans, Lampman found his shot early, finishing the game 4-of-9. Lampman leads Oakland with 24 made triples on the year.
Lampman had assisted on just 10 buckets in 13 games before the weekends' victory over Detroit Mercy. He was active on the offensive end, dishing out a career-high five helpers.
Lampman is the first Golden Grizzly freshman to receive the conference's weekly plaudits this season. Sophomore
Daniel Oladapo earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors on November 11.
Oakland's 78-69 victory over the Titans was the sixth straight in the series. Next up for the Golden Grizzlies is a home contest against Wright State (12-3, 2-0 HL) on Friday, January 3, at 7 pm on ESPNU.
