Kevin Kangu scored a team-best 20 points en route to a 75-62 win over UTSA at the Sunshine Slam Saturday from Silver Spur Arena.
Kangu shot 44 percent from the floor (4-9) and made three triples. The junior got to the free throw line 10 times, making nine of his attempts.
Xavier Hill-Mais recorded his first double-double of the season recording 19 points and 12 boards. The senior shot 7-for-14 on the day, and dished out four assists.
Tray Maddox Jr. rounded out Oakland's double-digit scoring performers, tallying 16 points and tied his career best five assists.
Oakland (2-1) entered halftime trailing UTSA (0-3) 36-33 with the Roadrunners shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from three-point range.
The Golden Grizzlies answered in the second half, led defensively by Maddox. Oakland held UTSA to just 1-of-16 from beyond the arc in the second half, and just 22 percent from the floor.

Blake Lampman finished the day with nine points, shooting 3-of-4 from downtown.
The Golden Grizzlies conclude the Sunshine Slam tournament tomorrow when they take on Southern Illinois at 1 p.m.
