OAKLAND EYES FIRST PLACE MILWAUKEE

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland volleyball team will travel to first place Milwaukee on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. (ET) inside the Klotsche Center.

Oakland looks to bounce back after falling to Northern Kentucky in straight sets Wednesday night.

  • The series is tied 6-6
  • In the last meeting on Oct. 13, the Golden Grizzlies handed Milwaukee its first league loss of the season and snapped the Panthers' then NCAA-leading 15-game winning streak in a five set thriller at the O'rena
  • Both teams split last season's matches with the home team winning both contests

  • Jamie Walling was named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 4.50 kills per set and hit .354 (10/21)
  • Megan Hobler ranks 28th nationally in total blocks (109)
  • Lindsay Wightman ranks 20th nationally in digs per set (5.20)
  • On Oct. 9 at Northern Kentucky, Oakland set a new single match school record with 126 digs, obliterating the previous record from 2009 of 115
  • On Oct. 5 against UIC, Lindsay Wightman became the eighth player in program history to record 1,000 career digs
  • Jamie Walling has five 20-plus-kill performances this season. Coming into 2019, she had four in her career.

  • Oakland returns a first team all-league selection in Walling. She was the only player to appear in all 27 matches and play in all 108 sets last season and ranked second in the Horizon League in hitting percentage at .290
  • Walling also ranked third in the conference in points per set (3.87), fourth in kills per set (3.37) and recorded 20 kills or more in four matches
  • Wightman returns for her junior season as one of the league's top defensive specialists, ranking fourth in the conference last season in digs per set
  • Wightman also ranked inside the NCAA's top-50 in digs per set (45th) in 2018.
  • Oakland added eight newcomers to the 2019 team, including three transfers in Taylor Dellinger (Western Kentucky), Kerra Cornist (Evansville) and Brittany Welch (New Mexico State).
