
TOLEDO, Ohio – Blake Lampman recorded a career best 18 points going 5-of-10 from 3-point range as the Oakland men's basketball team fell to Toledo 65-63 Saturday night from Savage Arena .
Lampman's 18 points was a game high and in addition to his 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc, the freshman also added three rebounds and two steals.
Xavier Hill-Mais,
Brad Brechting and
Daniel Oladapo all scored in double figures, recording 14,13 and 12 points respectively.
There were five lead changes throughout the game with the Golden Grizzlies (4-4) leading by as much as seven in the first half. Oakland entered halftime trailing Toledo, 36-33.
The Golden Grizzlies dominated post play, registering 36 points in the paint compared to Toledo's (5-2) 16 points. Oakland struggled from the free throw line going just 6-of-14.
With 12 seconds remaining in the game, Toledo missed the front end of a one and one opportunity and a defensive rebound by Hill-Mais gave Oakland one last shot. Lampman missed his three-point shot which led to an offensive rebound by
Kevin Kangu and another triple attempt with just two seconds remaining. The Golden Grizzlies were unable to convert, sealing the game for Toledo.
Oakland continues its road swing Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Western Michigan at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
