
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Kayla Luchenbach shot 5-for-9 from the field and went 7-for-9 at the free throw line to post her first career double-double with a career-high 17 points while matching a career-best 10 rebounds as Oakland battled No. 15 Michigan State for three quarters before falling 76-56 on Tuesday night at the Breslin Center.
Jalisha Terry added 16 points with six rebounds and two assists.

MSU's size down low proved to be the difference as the Spartans held a 52-24 advantage in the paint and 54-44 mark on the boards.

Rickeisha Sheard, Oakland opened the first quarter hitting on all cylinders to take and early 14-6 lead. MSU responded with a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 15-14. The Golden Grizzlies responded with a 5-0 run of their own off a
Sydney Gouard jumper and 3-pointer from Terry to close out the period with a 19-18 lead.
MSU opened the second quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers en route to a 10-0 run over the first five minutes of the second quarter to take a 28-19 lead. Oakland got the next four points to pull within six at 28-22. After the Spartans moved ahead by 10 at 32-22, the Golden Grizzlies battled back with a six-point spurt to pull within seven points at the half, 35-28.
Luchenbach connected on a traditional three-point play with a layup and ensuing free throw to pull the Golden Grizzlies within four, 40-36, at the 7:14 mark of the third quarter. The Spartans then responded with a 10-0 run extending their lead to 46-36. Oakland hung tough down the stretch scoring 10 points to trail 60-46 at the end of the frame
MSU extended their lead to 22 points at 70-48 opening the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run and never looked back as the Golden Grizzlies only converted one shot from the field over the first eight minutes of the frame but closed out the game scoring eight points.
Oakland travels to Niagara on Monday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.
